
Alexandra Morgan Carrasco (American professional soccer player) plays as a striker. She also serves as the captain of the San Diego Wave FC of National Women's Soccer League, the top division of professional women's soccer. From 2018 to 2020, she was a co-captain of the American women's national soccer team with Megan Rapinoe. [8][98][9] Morgan was selected number one in the Western New York Flash's 2011 WPS Draft shortly after she had graduated from the University of California, Berkeley. Morgan played for the California Golden Bears. There, she made her debut in professional football and was a part of the team's success in winning the league title. Morgan was 22, at the time was the youngest athlete on the national team in the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup, where the team was runner-up. In the 2012 London Olympics, she scored the game-winning goal in the 123rd minute of the semi-final match against Canada. She finished 2012 with 21 goals and 28 assists, and Mia Hamm was the only American woman to score 20 and 20 goals. She was the 6th-youngest U.S. player ever to hit 20 goals in a season. She was awarded the U.S. Soccer Female Player of the Year and was a FIFA World Player of the The Year finalist. Morgan was also instrumental in helping the United States win their titles at the 2015 and 2019 FIFA Women's World Cups, where she was named to the Dream Team for both tournaments and also won the Silver Boot in 2019.
